Fu Song is the founder and designer of Songmont, which grew from a small handcraft workshop in Shanxi into one of China's most successful contemporary handbag businesses, helping pave the way for a new generation of Chinese craft brands seeking global recognition.
A native of Taiyuan in Shanxi and a former user experience designer at Google, Fu launched Songmont in 2013 with her mother, who gathered a team of local craftswomen to make its first pieces. The brand joined Tmall in 2018 and opened its first store in 2020. By 2025 it ranked first in bags and accessories on Tmall's Singles' Day chart, and its network had grown to around 20 stores, including a flagship on Shanghai's Huaihai Middle Road and a store in Bangkok.
LVMH chairman Bernard Arnault visited Songmont's Shanghai store in 2025. The brand has staged exhibitions in Paris during fashion week since 2024 and has expanded into apparel and fragrance.
