Xander Zhou is one of the pioneering figures of contemporary Chinese menswear and the first Chinese designer to appear on the official schedule of London’s menswear fashion week. He has also been included in the BoF 500, reflecting his longstanding role in bringing Chinese fashion into an international industry context.

His creative universe combines Eastern mysticism, futurism and speculative culture. Rather than separating reality from fantasy, Zhou uses fashion to build a multiverse in which virtual identities, imagined futures and familiar dress codes collide. In recent years, his work has increasingly examined how traditional forms and Asian origins can be reconstructed within new contexts of diversity. That investigation is less about literal heritage than about creating new possibilities for how Chinese and Asian references can function in global fashion.

Zhou’s concept of diversity extends far beyond race, nationality or gender. Robots, aliens and other non-human identities appear naturally within his world, allowing him to use fashion as a space for imagining forms of identity that do not yet exist. This speculative approach has made him one of the most conceptually distinctive Chinese designers of his generation.
