  • Description

Ziqian Liu is a Shanghai-based Chinese photographic artist whose work explores the relationship between the human body, nature and perception. She creates her images independently using only a camera and tripod, constructing carefully balanced compositions from plants, mirrors, light, shadow and the body.

A central idea in Liu’s practice is perspective. Mirrors allow her to revisit familiar subjects from unexpected viewpoints, emphasizing multiplicity and the instability of perception. She rarely reveals the faces of her subjects, preferring the back of the body as an open visual symbol that can stand in for a more universal human presence.

Her calm, poetic visual language has traveled well beyond China. Liu’s work has been exhibited in Shanghai, Milan, London, Paris and Los Angeles and featured by publications including Photo World, China Daily, ELLE China, Vogue Portugal and IGNANT, giving her a growing international audience across both art and visual culture.
