  • Description

Edmond Luu is a French designer and filmmaker whose creative practice sits between fashion and cinematic world-building. His universe draws on fashion, cinema, manga, anime, folklore and imagined worlds, creating a visual language that feels both narrative and highly constructed.

Recurring ideas in his work include uniform, armor, identity and silhouette. Clothing often functions less as conventional wardrobe than as a device for creating characters, suggesting alternate realities and exploring how individuals protect, perform or transform themselves. A central part of Luu’s practice is the bridge he builds between Chinese culture and the West. Rather than treating those references as separate categories, he folds them into a hybrid visual language shaped by his wider interest in fantasy, popular culture and image-making.

In 2024, Luu received the Pierre Bergé Prize at ANDAM, giving international recognition to a multidisciplinary approach that resists the boundaries between designer and filmmaker. His work reflects a generation of creatives for whom fashion is not simply product, but one component of a larger cultural and narrative universe.
