Terrence Zhou is the Wuhan-born, New York-based designer behind Bad Binch TONGTONG, whose surreal, instantly recognizable fashion language is built around impossibility. He launched the label in 2020, the same year he graduated from Parsons, after first moving to the United States at 17 to study mathematics and engineering.

Zhou designs around form and has said he likes to work with impossibilities in mind. His signatures include balloon gowns, octopus dresses, siren tails and sculptural spherical forms, and he releases pieces as they are finished outside the seasonal calendar. His first official runway collection, SS23, was staged in New York with choreography by Stefanie Nelson and a cast spanning genders, body types and ages.

His garments read as couture on a red carpet and travel easily across social media. They have been worn by Christina Aguilera, Rina Sawayama, Olivia Rodrigo, Camila Cabello, Kirsten Dunst, Karlie Kloss, Liu Wen and Ju Xiaowen.
