- Description
Lexie Liu is a singer, songwriter and producer whose work has consistently sat at the experimental edge of Chinese pop. Since her 2018 debut 2030, she has reshaped her sound with each release, moving through Meta Ego and the self-produced Gone Gold before arriving at her third album, The Happy Star, in 2022, a multilingual, tarot-inspired record built around fate and human nature.
Recent singles including "dance dance" and "POP GIRL" have widened that palette further, setting Y2K nostalgia against contemporary production. Across the catalogue, the throughline is creative control: she writes and produces her own material and directs her own artistic output.
That independence was a choice. After gaining early recognition on K-Pop Star 5 in Korea and Rap of China, Liu declined the conventional idol route and instead built a career that has allowed her to keep pushing Chinese pop toward stranger, darker and more experimental territory.
