Feng Chen Wang is one of the defining figures of the generation that brought contemporary Chinese fashion onto the global stage. Born in Fujian and based between London and Shanghai, she founded her namesake label after completing an MA in Fashion Menswear at the Royal College of Art in 2015. Her work is rooted in what she describes as a future-modern, authentic and multidimensional aesthetic.
Wang draws directly from her Fujian heritage, translating techniques such as plant and tea dyeing and bamboo weaving into an experimental design language built around deconstruction, layered tailoring and fluid approaches to gender and function.
Wang made her New York Fashion Week debut for Spring/Summer 2016 and went on to receive nominations for the LVMH Prize and International Woolmark Prize. Her collaborations with brands including Converse, Nike, Levi’s, UGG, Canada Goose, Crocs, Estée Lauder, Barbour and Audi have extended her influence well beyond the runway. Her design of the official flag-bearer uniforms for the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics marked a major cultural moment, and she later joined the official Paris Fashion Week calendar.
Today, Wang frames her evolving approach through the idea of “Meta-Chinese” — a contemporary expression of Chinese identity built through deconstruction, reassembly and reinvention rather than nostalgia.
