London Fashion Week Spring 2025: China’s ranking

London Fashion Week’s (LFW) five-day stint ended with the star-studded highlight of Burberry, drawing to a close the brilliant showcase of cult designers, quintessentially British culture, and commercial brand activations. Despite Burberry reporting a 21% YoY sales decline in mainland China in the second quarter, it remained the highest media value earner on the schedule. Though not scaling the engagement heights of Paris or Milan fashion weeks, the British capital’s relevance remains solid in China: #londonfashion week (#伦敦时装周) is at 1.87 billion reads on Weibo. Celebrity attendance amped up engagement, from Harry Styles at SS Daley – the star took a minority stake in the brand in January this year – to music artists Central Cee and Jack Harlow watching Skepta’s “Season Two of Mains.” Chinese supermodels also contributed to high viewership in the mainland. Overall, LFW Spring 2025 was propelled by brand partnerships and collaborations – the industry’s struggles are no secret. Motivated by emerging designers’ rising need for financial assistance, partnerships included Pandora partnering with Ahluwalia, Penhaligon’s with Zhaoyi Yu, Mowalola with Miss Sixty, Nensi Dojaka with Calvin Klein, and Chopova Lowena, to fan surprise, with mayonnaise brand Hellmann’s. Using exclusive social media data provided by influencer marketing and analytics platform WeArisma, Jing Daily dissects LFW below. 1. Burberry Media value: Topping the rankings, Burberry attained $1.2 million. Chinese supermodel Liu Wen closed the show, while A-lister attendees consisted of buzzy actor Barry Keoghan, South Korean actress Kong Hyo-jin, music artist Jack Harlow, and Anna Wintour. The content raking in the highest media value in China was by Elle Taiwan ($187,564), starring Kong Hyo-jin and Son Suk-ku, both Burberry brand ambassadors – a real emphasis on the role of key opinion leader attendance at fashion week. 2. Simone Rocha Media value: Second on our list for highest media impact is fairytale designer Simone Rocha, with $511,457. The collection’s concept drove conversation, with fashion-savvy netizens marveling at her designs, and seductively cheeky looks that saw models flaunting exposed underwear. 3. JW Anderson Media value: JW Anderson owes most of its relevance to Uniqlo collaborations. As a small business, it ranked 15 on the Lyst Index for Q2 2024. However, it generated $469,628 in media value for LFW. Cosmopolitan China was responsible for the most valuable content, $117,415, posting coverage of the collection across Weibo and Douyin. Interestingly, the conversation derived from the actual designs rather than celebrity attendance at the show. 4. Erdem Media value: Hitting $199,991 in media value, Erdem continues to be one of the most major brands on LFW’s schedule. Merging masculine and feminine signifiers, Erdem’s Spring 2025 collection took inspiration from The Well of Loneliness by Radclyffe Hall, exhibited at the British Museum. Netizens complimented the concept, inspiration, and design. Notably, the attendance of Anna Wintour, and influencers Iris Law and Lila Moss was not the topic of discussion. 5. Yuhan Wang Media value: Doyen of lace and frills, Yuhan Wang’s take on power dressing rivaled the likes of Erdem, and outdid Richard Quinn with $182,448 in media value in China. A single Weibo post by the platform’s fashion publication Sina Fashion was valued at $57,707. The content comprised a series of images showcasing the collection’s elegant and romantic twist on sportswear, capturing the essence of the designer’s vision and resonating strongly with audiences. 6. Richard Quinn Media Value: Richard Quinn remains one of the hottest tickets at LFW for Spring 2025. A leading voice in Chinese luxury fashion, it generated $154,194 in media value, of which $57,708 was attributable to Weibo’s Sina Fashion platform presenting high-quality runway photos. The elegantly glamorous brand is yet to truly break China, though. But domestic influencer Yuran Mila (@悠然米拉) did post about the show on Weibo to her 3 million followers, generating $22,207 in MV. 7. H&M Media value: Due to the Charli CXC extravaganza that marked the beginning of LFW Spring 2025, H&M was momentarily the talk of the town in China, and beyond – it generated $28,745 in media value, which is high for a brand that is not usually part of high fashion. The brand capitalized on the surge of “Brat summer” content across Xiaohongshu and Weibo, flying in press from Asia, including China, for the event.
