From Liu Wen 刘雯 to Ming Xi 奚梦瑶, 10 best Chinese supermodels

A decade ago, a Chinese model in a major Western luxury campaign felt like news. When world-famous cover girl Liu Wen became Victoria’s Secret first Asian angel in 2009, and subsequently Estée Lauder’s debut Asian model in 2010, the early story was about representation. That narrative has since shifted. In 2026, China is the world’s second-largest luxury market, and the market’s top models have fanbases that rival those of actors: Liu’s hashtag on Xiaohongshu (also known as RedNote), for example, has drawn 1.1 billion impressions at the time of writing. Esteemed supermodel Chu Wong is known to work with a range of leading luxury houses every fashion week, from Fendi to Max Mara, and Ming Xi’s wedding to billionaire heir Mario Ho went viral earlier this year. Wenzhou-born newer-comer Hejia Li is gaining traction on Xiaohongshu, having recently walked for Vogue World in Milan, joining her roster of brands like Tory Burch, Louis Vuitton, Missoni, and Tod’s. Below, we break down some of the most prominent supermodels hailing from China who illustrate that transition. As local brands gain greater recognition on the global stage, Chinese luxury ambassadors are also commanding some of the industry’s highest fees. This is not an earnings ranking or an exhaustive industry census, but rather a look at the models brands are increasingly betting on to capture attention, shape consumer desire, and move products. 1. Liu Wen (刘雯) In October 2025, Liu Wen walked the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show for the ninth time, reportedly a record for an Asian model. The Hunan-born model first walked the show in 2009, the first Chinese model to do so, and later became the first East Asian model on Forbes’ list of the world's highest-paid models. In 2024, she became the first model of Asian descent on a solo French Vogue cover, and she has covered US Vogue three times. 2. Fei Fei Sun (孙菲菲) Fei Fei Sun gained industry recognition as the first Asian model to appear alone on the cover of Vogue Italia in January 2013; four years later, she joined Estée Lauder as a global spokesperson. She has walked for and fronted campaigns for Prada, Dior, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Gucci and Calvin Klein. Steven Meisel photographed that cover, which is still a reference point for Asian representation in fashion. Chu Wong (汪曲攸) Huangshan-born Chu Wong became the first Chinese model to front Hermès’ global campaigns. Since her Paris debut in 2015, she has walked for Louis Vuitton, Dior, Prada and Fendi and covered Vogue China. In 2023, she released her debut single under the name Chu.W. The model has had a strong 2026, starring in Bottega Veneta’s II Mio and Versace Eyewear’s Spring 2026 campaigns, and walking the Louis Vuitton Resort and Hermès shows. 4. Du Juan (杜鹃) In 2005, Du Juan became the first Asian model on the cover of Vogue Paris, sharing it with Gemma Ward in a shoot by Mario Testino. She holds the record for Vogue China covers, with 18. A former ballet dancer from Shanghai, she worked extensively with Europe's major fashion houses and opened doors for the Chinese models who followed. 5. Hejia Li (李禾佳) Wenzhou-born Hejia Li made her runway debut in the Spring/Summer 2024 season. Since then she has walked for Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Saint Laurent, Gucci, Fendi, Versace, Bottega Veneta and Givenchy. American labels Proenza Schouler, Khaite and Michael Kors have also cast her. 6. Sui He (何穗) Sui He opened Ralph Lauren's Fall/Winter 2011 show, the first Asian model to do so. That same year she became the second Chinese model, after Liu Wen, to walk the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. She returned to that runway for several seasons. 7. Ming Xi (奚梦瑶) Shanghai-born Ming Xi built an international runway and commercial career, with long ties to Givenchy and Victoria's Secret. At the 2017 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show in Shanghai, she fell on the runway, and her recovery drew widespread public support. She registered her marriage to Mario Ho, son of the late Macau casino magnate Stanley Ho, in July 2019, and their formal ceremony in France on June 1, 2026, went viral. 8. Xiao Wen Ju (雎晓雯) Racking up 110.2 million impressions on her Xiaohongshu hashtag, Xiao Wen Ju became the face of L’Oréal in 2016, four years after she became the first model of Chinese descent to front a Marc Jacobs campaign. She has also walked the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. 9. Shu Pei Qin (秦舒培) Scouted while studying in New York City, Shu Pei Qin has built a major presence on international runways and in advertising campaigns. The Chinese supermodel made her Victoria’s Secret debut in 2012 during the brand’s heyday. From Gucci to Burberry to Louis Vuitton, there are not many major houses that Qin hasn’t worked with. 10. He Cong (贺聪) Appearing in the 2023 iconic Pirelli calendar, He Cong is one of the most prominent Chinese runway models of her generation. She has worked extensively for major luxury brands, from Chanel to Louis Vuitton. Her strongest presence is at Milan and Paris fashion weeks.
