Aesop has opened its third store in Chengdu at IFS mall, drawing design inspiration from classical Chinese poetry. The store’s concept is based on Southern Song Dynasty poet Lu You’s poem “Recalling Shu” (忆蜀), which describes the city’s fall scenery and its symbolic hibiscus flower. A soft color palette derived from the flower is applied throughout the interior. The space features washed terrazzo flooring with fine-grained texture and clean, angular structures that create rhythm and calm. Aesop treats each location as a narrative space rather than just a retail outlet, reflecting the brand’s continued focus on cultural connection as it expands in China.
