Competition Attracted More Than 140 Entries From Around The World The former residence of kung fu icon Bruce Lee -- which has not been without its fair share of controversyin the last several years -- took another step forward in its lengthy journey to becoming a full-fledged Bruce Lee museum this week, as the Hong Kong city government chose the winning entries of a restoration design competition. These entries, on display in Hong Kong until March 6, were culled from more than 140 entries sent from all around the world. Writing on the competition, the Hong Kong tourism commission noted that the award ceremony was officiated by Hong Kong Secretary for Commerce & Economic Development Rita Lau, who who was "impressed by the creative entries." [Lau] said the competition, which attracted more than 140 entries from around the world, will take forward the house's restoration project, adding the Government will continue to gather information and source exhibits from various channels, including the late kung-fu star's family and friends, to make the venue a real showcase of his life. The Tourism Commission will further discuss with the house owner, Yu Pang-lin, various issues regarding the project. The exhibition of the competition entries will move to the Cultural Centre from February 9 to 16, then to Sha Tin Town Hall February 23 to March 6. According to a Reuters article from last year, supporters of the Bruce Lee residence restoration project hope the restored residence could prove as big a draw as other global memorial sites such as the Beatles Story in Liverpool and Elvis Presley's Graceland mansion in Tennessee.
