This unexpected color is taking over the world’s hottest watches

Pistachio green (or is it sage?) is having a horological moment, taking wrists by storm this year. While pistachio has never been a Pantone color of the year, it seems to be gaining traction: Once reserved for smaller watches, this serene, nature-inspired color is trending on timepieces big and modest. Today’s daring watch brands are bringing shades such as mint, moss and seafoam to everything from complicated pieces to time-only models. And the color is appearing on everything from straps to dials and even movement components. “Color is more important than ever in the watch world; it’s how people express personality and style,” says Ben Kuffer, founder and chief executive officer of Norqain. “This summer, mint and pistachio green are standout trends: fresh, modern and effortlessly wearable. We chose this soft shade for the Skeleton Wild One for its understated elegance and breezy vibe that perfectly captures Norqain’s adventurous spirit.” Hublot Big Bang Unico Mint Green Ceramic In a new high-tech color for Hublot, this highly saturated mint green Big Bang Unico boasts a case and bezel of ceramic. The 42mm watch is powered by an in-house-developed, automatic chronograph caliber with open-worked dial and mint green minute track, subsidiary dial and accents. It’s finished with a color-coordinated rubber strap. $24,100 Parmigiani Fleurier Tonda PF Skeleton Slate Green A deft blend of architecture and mechanics, the newest Tonda PF Skeleton is powered by the 777 caliber with luminous slate green bridges, plates and components — all inspired by the color palette of artist Le Corbusier. The skeletonized watch is crafted in stainless steel with a platinum bezel. Just 50 pieces will be made. $70,300 Oris Big Crown Pointer Date A signature timepiece in the Oris line since 1938, this newest Big Crown Pointer Date dons a moss green dial with Super-LumiNova hands and markers. Powered by an automatic movement, the 40mm stainless steel watch is sold with a 10-year warranty. $4,300 on deer leather strap; $4,500 on steel bracelet Norqain Wild One Skeleton 39mm Mint In a limited edition of just 400 pieces, the new Swiss-made Norqain Wild One boasts a 39mm case crafted of proprietary ultra-light Norteq carbon fiber with mint green case sides, outer dial ring and green dial accents, including luminous hands. It’s powered by an automatic skeletonized movement and finished with a mint green mesh rubber strap. $6,150 Breitling Super Ocean Heritage 36 Breitling’s newly redesigned, still iconic Super Ocean Heritage line includes this 36mm stainless steel version with a mint green sunray dial, ceramic bezel insert and textured rubber strap. It’s powered by a mechanical self-winding movement that’s chronometer certified and water resistant to 200 meters. $5,250 Girard-Perregaux Laureato Chronograph Aston Martin Edition Conceived in cooperation with British automotive brand Aston Martin, the new Laureato is inspired by the lime green of the cars. The 42mm watch is equipped with an iridescent green dial accomplished via 15 individual layers of paint. It’s powered by a 419-part self-winding chronograph movement. $22,700 Rolex Oyster Perpetual 41 The most recently released Oyster Perpetual features a pistachio green lacquered dial with a matte finish — something Rolex hasn’t offered before on its 41mm version. Crafted in Oystersteel with a redesigned case and slimmer clasp, the watch carries the brand’s Superlative Chronometer certification. $6,650 Richard Mille RM 75-01 Flying Tourbillon Sapphire Part of a new collection from Richard Mille, this RM 75-01 Flying Tourbillon Sapphire features a case made of sapphire with colors inspired by the sea such as sea-green on the crown and dial markers at 12:00, 3:00, 6:00 and 9:00. It’s finished with a pale green rubber strap and powered by a mechanical movement constructed for the sapphire case. Just 15 pieces will be made. 1,850,000 Swiss francs ($2.3 million) H. Moser & Cie. Endeavour Small Seconds Pop By turning to natural stones for its newest Pop collection, H. Moser brings color and depth to the forefront. This 38mm time-only watch is crafted in steel with a Burmese jade dial and a pink opal subsidiary dial for the seconds indication.
