A look back at the best of Jing Daily’s Q&A series, from designer Paola Sinisterra and painter Hong Ling to rising fashion star Haizhen Wang, coffee evangelist Mike Fung, and foodie extraordinaire Janice Leung.

10 Minutes With…Paola Sinisterra Of HK Label Tangram#

Brimming with infectious energy, Colombia-born, Hong Kong-based Paola Sinisterra has become one of the city’s designers to watch since launching womenswear and accessories label Tangram last year with her husband Ignacio. Offering fresh, vividly colored and unique designs, Tangram has quickly established itself as one of Hong Kong’s brightest new fashion brands, finding fans locally, regionally and globally.

10 Minutes With…Renowned Chinese Landscape Painter Hong Ling#

“Hong Ling: Contemporary Chinese Landscape” showcases the work of Hong Ling (洪凌), a painter who has dedicated over three decades to the arts. Based in the secluded and magnificent Yellow Mountain in southern China, Hong captures traditional Chinese landscapes throughout the seasons. His first London exhibition presents a selection of contemporary art that fuses the atmosphere of the East with Western oil painting techniques on canvas.

    10 Minutes With…Fashion Fringe-Winning Designer Haizhen Wang#

Winner of the prestigious 2012 Fashion Fringe and — like fellow designers Vega Zaishi Wang, Yang Du and Uma Wang – a graduate of Central Saint Martins, Dalian-born, London-based fashion designer Haizhen Wang recently invited Jing Daily contributor Alessa Beatriz to preview his newest collection and get up and personal with the designer himself.

    10 Minutes With…HK Slow-Brew Coffee Evangelist Mike Fung#

For the past year, a very different kind of coffee joint has been brewing in Hong Kong, and it goes by the name of Rabbithole Coffee and Roaster, founded by highly caffeinated pioneer Mike Fung. After catching the coffee bug and leaving his job in media advertising, Fung ventured to Australia, working in cafés, only to return to Hong Kong to open his very own single-sourced, freshly roasted and slow-brewed coffee company.

10 Minutes With…HK Food Blogger Extraordinaire Janice Leung#

Hong Kong-based writer, editor, and food blogger/critic extraordinaire Janice Leung keeps her plate full and her readers hungry for more as she zips through life, stomach first, documenting her global travels and eats on her acclaimed food blog “e_ting the world.” As if she wasn’t busy enough, Leung — with co-founder Vincent Poon, the man behind Festival of Restaurants – is now proving herself an influential force in Hong Kong’s food industry with the recently opened Island East Markets, a (soon-to-be leading) farmers’ market at Taikoo Place.
