Chinese designers Gearing up to celebrate her eponymous brand’s 10th year of business, Feng Chen Wang made her mark with her Ugg Tasman slippers, which divided opinion. Encased in jagged, fanged ceramic-like shells, the grotesque footwear captured the alien essence of her supernatural theme. Transporting the audience into an otherworldly realm, Feng Chen Wang showcased a tribute to a 2,500-year-old Chinese text that describes mystical creatures and landscapes. Suen’s rustic, nomadic designs evoked imagery of rugged terrains and layered climates, but he maintained modern sophistication through exquisite detailing. Another designer sublimely marrying the East and West was established Shanghai name Ziggy Chen, a leader in relaxed, deconstructed menswear since 2012. Curating a collection inspired by Zen philosophy, Chen’s garments focused on natural textures and raw materials, juxtaposing minimalist design with functional elegance. His Fall 2025 offering solidified his reputation for creating collections that feel both timeless and contemporary, emphasizing sustainability and cultural resonance. While Chinese talents showcased their collections on schedule, sex-positive designer Rui seized the moment with a showroom to welcome buyers, and fellow independent label Didu capitalized on the industry’s presence in Paris by hosting a sample sale. The fashion world now pivots to the grandeur of Paris Haute Couture Week (January 27 to 30), but Chinese designers are missing this season. Perhaps one day soon the ethereal magic of emerging talent Zhaoyi Yu will grace the schedule — watch this space.
