How GORE-TEX® brings reliable protection to everyday life and personal expression

As GORE-TEX® marks 50 years since its first consumer product made with GORE-TEX® fabric debuted in 1976, the brand is demonstrating how high-performance weather protection can play a broader role in everyday life. With active lifestyles increasingly shaping personal identity, consumers are seeking products that deliver reliable performance while reflecting their individual tastes and aspirations. Built on decades of material innovation, testing, and product validation, GORE-TEX® has expanded its presence through collaborations spanning technical outdoor gear, luxury fashion, streetwear, and everyday footwear. From Arc’teryx’s Alpha SV to designs by Prada and Off-White, these partnerships illustrate how performance can coexist with distinct aesthetics and personal style. The brand’s recognizable black diamond label serves as a trusted signal of performance across different products and brands. In China, GORE-TEX® also works with partner brands to meet diverse consumer needs. Its collaboration with Kolon Sport on the Firra jacket combines reliable protection with everyday comfort, while its partnership with Danish brand Ecco brings the same functionality to footwear. Together, these applications broaden consumers’ choices for city walks, travel, and outdoor experiences. These China partnerships reflect the broader message behind GORE-TEX®’s 50th-anniversary campaign, “Play on, Rain or Wind 风雨也好玩”: performance is not simply about protection from the elements. It’s about giving people the confidence to stay active, express their individuality, and pursue fulfilling lives on their own terms.
