Luxury Hotel Offers 71 Gold Rooms With Additional Amenities, As Well As Exclusive Complimentary Services#

Apparently, Beijing's recently opened CBD Fairmont Hotel is fully aware that luxury-obsessed Chinese business travelers and domestic tourists are suckers for over-the-top opulence. (And that the Chinese have a serious love for gold.) This week, the high-end hotel chain (which recently celebrated the re-opening of its historic Peace Hotel in Shanghai and launched a Chinese-language website) announced the Beijing debut of "Fairmont Gold," a service designed to provide guests with a more private, bespoke experience. Along with perks like complimentary breakfast, afternoon tea, cocktails and internet access, the new service includes private check-in and check-out and access to the private Gold Lounge, located in the hotel's skybridge.

In all, the Fairmont Beijing has 71 "Gold" rooms and suites, including the 63 sq. meter Gold Grand room, which includes (among other upscale touches as floor-to-ceiling windows) a bathroom straight out of Goldfinger, featuring a 24-carat gold plated rain-shower head.
