Actress Gong Li Given Outstanding Elegant Role Model Award#
Water Cube illuminated for the ceremony
Last weekend, the fashion magazine L'Officiel held its China Elegance Grand ceremony at Beijing's National Water Cube. The event brought famous Chinese celebrities like Gong Li, Carina Lau, Yang Lan, Zhang Yuqi, Zhou Dongyu and Huang Shengyi along with media figures, directors, artists and business leaders. In celebration of the French magazine's ceremony, organizers changed the National Water Cube from its original blue to pink.
2011 marks the 31st anniversary of the Chinese edition of L'Officiel and its 90th anniversary in France. To celebrate this event, the entertainment and music giants Huayi Brothers Media invited record producer Daniel Merlot to create a commemorative bilingual (Chinese-French) song with Shang Wenjie, champion of the third season of the Chinese singing contest "Super Girl."
At the ceremony, L'Officiel unveiled its 2011 China "Elegant Women" list. Featuring high-profile women from the worlds of fashion world, the arts and business, the list singled out individuals who have made a major contribution to society. For the final award of the night, actress Gong Li, who graces the cover of L'Officiel's 90th anniversary issue, was named Outstanding Elegant Female Role Model of the Year.
