The latest collection draws on the style of figures who gathered at the Blitz Club, a short-lived Tuesday night club event in Covent Garden, near the venue where Mithridate presented its latest show. Fletcher revisits the period’s mix of theatrical dressing, military references and exaggerated proportions, giving the codes a contemporary treatment. Victorian and Edwardian military uniforms inform details across the collection, while partywear takes on sculptural shapes through bubble hems, feathers and tulle. Corsets, low-slung briefs and exposed suspender details introduce a more provocative edge. Ballerina references, appearing in candy-pink tutus and exceptionally fine knitwear, soften the collection. Proportion is central. Oversized studs appear on relaxed denim, micro shorts are paired with voluminous trench coats and cropped cable knits sit against broad-shouldered tailoring. Accessories extend the styling, including leather belts, cummerbunds and bicorne hats created by milliner Noel Stewart. Color is similarly unconventional, pairing hot pink with scarlet, cornflower blue with emerald and navy with black. Mithridate’s numerical motifs return on leather pieces and shirts, alongside graphics inspired by West End theater advertisements. The collection is another step in Fletcher’s effort to position Mithridate through a distinctly British lens. Since showcasing his first designs with the label at LFW in February 2025, he has increasingly drawn on British eccentricity, heritage and subcultures, shifting the brand’s fashion narrative toward London while retaining its existing identity. The Jing Take It’s evident that Mithridate’s British direction is a sales strategy, and its target market is not just Europe, but also China. The hashtag “newromanticism,” the collection’s theme, has 451,400 impressions on Xiaohongshu (also known as RedNote). Chinese consumers are already searching for the subculture. While the brand hashtag currently has 4.8 million impressions, there is little conversation surrounding the new collection yet, with #mithridate27 at just over 300 impressions on the platform. The brand’s headquarters and atelier are in Guangzhou, it operates a London studio, and it had seven standalone boutiques in China, as of September 2026. Selling London eccentricity is not a retreat from the Chinese market, but a bid for the margin that European heritage commands. Gender-neutral styling, which Fletcher describes as a way to shake up fashion sensibilities, gives the story a second hook with younger buyers. Europe is the opportunity rather than the base. Mithridate opened a retail activation at Paris’ Galeries Lafayette Haussmann in June 2026 and will open its first London pop-up on Dover Street this Christmas. The Instagram account has 36,700 followers, small for a house showing on the official calendar for a third consecutive September. That makes the front row a missed opportunity. Actor and musician Douglas Booth and artist and creative editor Solange Smith carry weight in London, but Chinese celebrities and KOLs carry it where the boutiques are. Model Yang Xinjun (杨欣君) on the runway was the clearest concession to the core market. The price architecture shows where volume sits. Womenswear runs from $60 for a cotton T-shirt to about $4,010 for a polka-dot puff-ball minidress, menswear from $60 to about $2,405. Entry-level product and accessories do the recruiting: the Ranger travel bag from Spring/Summer 2026 appeared repeatedly on attendees. Fletcher has now delivered four collections built on the same premise. The consistency is the argument. Awareness outside China is the test.
