Adidas shares rise after Sawe breaks marathon 2-hour record

Adidas shares rose nearly 2% on April 27 after Sabastian Sawe became the first person to break the two-hour marathon barrier in an official race at the London Marathon, wearing the Adizero Adios Pro Evo 3. Sawe clocked 1:59:30, while fellow Adidas athlete Yomif Kejelcha also broke the barrier with 1:59:41, and Tigst Assefa simultaneously shattered the women’s world record. The 97g shoe improves running economy by 1.6% and retails at $500 — it is now fetching resale prices as high as $5,500, cementing Adidas’ lead over Nike in the performance running category.
