China and Russia announce visa-free travel plans

Chinese Premier Li Qiang and Russian President Vladimir Putin announced plans for reciprocal visa-free travel during their meeting at the Kremlin on Tuesday. Putin confirmed Russia will “very soon” introduce visa-free entry for Chinese citizens, mirroring China’s recent decision to grant visa-free access to Russians holding ordinary passports from September 2025. According to Qunar travel data, Moscow ranked among the top 10 global destinations in search volume as of November 19. Russian hotel bookings have surged 43% YoY in 2024. Spring Tour reports that winter and Spring Festival bookings to Russia have already surpassed last year’s levels.
