Nike preps new layoffs under CEO Elliott Hill
Nike is preparing another round of layoffs as CEO Elliott Hill refocuses the company on sports and innovation. The cuts will affect less than 1% of corporate staff, with Converse and EMEA operations unaffected. The restructuring reverses former CEO John Donahoe’s approach, which segmented business by men’s, women’s, and kids’ categories. Hill is reorganizing teams around sport and culture to reconnect Nike with athletes and drive product innovation. Employees will be notified by September 8, with most new roles effective September 21. Nike laid off more than 1,500 employees in February as part of broader cost-cutting plans.
