Watsons fined by Beijing regulator for false advertising

The Beijing Municipal Administration for Market Regulation has fined Beijing Watsons Personal Care Stores 30,000 RMB ($4,114) for false advertising of several products sold on the Meituan platform. According to the regulator, Watsons promoted a Lux herbal soap as having “moisturizing” effects without providing supporting evidence. Several shampoo products were advertised with “anti-hair loss” claims that were found to be unsubstantiated. Additional items, including Yunnan Baiyao toothpaste and scented hand creams, were also cited for misleading marketing.
