The National Immigration Administration yesterday announced an update to China’s transit visa exemption policy, extending the stay for visa-free travelers from 72/144 hours to 240 hours (10 days). The policy adds 21 new ports of entry and allows cross-province travel within 24 regions. Eligible travelers from 54 countries, including the US, UK, and Russia, can transit through China via 60 designated ports without a visa, staying in specified areas for up to 240 hours. Following the announcement, Trip.com reported a surge in searches for Chinese destinations, with interest from Europe, the Americas, and Asia-Pacific increasing by 85%, 163%, and 116% respectively.
