Marriott China moves HQ to Shanghai, eyes lower tier cities

The regional headquarters has moved from Hong Kong to Shanghai to improve communication and response times. The company is expanding aggressively into third- and fourth-tier cities, focusing on select service hotels near high-speed rail hubs, and enhancing its market reach through strategic partnerships, including a joint venture with Marriott plans to leverage its established presence and diverse brand portfolio to double its footprint in Greater China over the next five years, capitalizing on the rise of the middle class and ongoing urbanization.
