Delta Air Lines resumes Shanghai-LA flights:

Delta Air Lines (DALN) will resume its direct flights from Shanghai Pudong (PVG) to Los Angeles (LAX) in June 2025, with three weekly flights operated by its flagship Airbus A350 wide-body aircraft. By then, Delta will operate 17 weekly direct flights between China and the US, including its existing routes from Shanghai to Detroit and Seattle. However, this is still far below the 42 weekly flights approved by the US Department of Transportation (DOT). Last month, both Delta and United Airlines requested the DOT to extend their unused China-US flight frequencies. Delta is seeking to delay the resumption of five routes until after the 2024-2025 winter-spring season. Currently, there are about 100 weekly direct flights between China and the US, compared to approximately 800 per week in 2019. The recovery of air travel between the two countries has been sluggish due to strained relations and reduced demand for business travel.
