- Description
Born in Hong Kong and based in Paris, Charles Leung is CEO of Chaumet and LVMH’s first and only Chinese chief executive. His appointment places a Chinese luxury leader at the helm of one of France’s oldest high-jewellery maisons, giving him an unusually visible role in the relationship between European heritage and the global luxury consumer. Under Leung’s leadership, Chaumet has taken on landmark projects that extend the maison’s cultural profile beyond traditional jewellery. Most notably, the house designed the medals for the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, while a sustainability partnership with WWF has added an environmental dimension to its broader brand agenda. Leung has described his approach as “reinventing tradition.” Rather than treating Chaumet’s 245-year history as something static, he has focused on modernizing the way the maison communicates while preserving the codes and craftsmanship that define its identity. That philosophy has particular relevance in China, where younger luxury consumers often engage with heritage through storytelling, cultural relevance and emotional resonance rather than age alone. Leung’s leadership brings a rare cross-cultural perspective to European luxury, connecting a historic Parisian maison with a new generation of clients in China and across the world.
