"Event Time: 2012-09-22" It's still early but The Schoolhouse at Mutianyu is is already hard at work on the Third Annual Slow Food Saturday festival. There will be many local foods to sample, food-making demonstrations, classes, and performances, simply put “good fun for all ages”! Please mark your calendars, 22 September, and email info@slowfoodsaturday.org to volunteer to help, to sponsor us or to register. This year we plan to donate all proceeds from the event to the Slow Food Beijing Convivium This year’s Slow Food Saturday will be more interactive and engaging as we are adding some new and interesting classes for which you can register such as “learn how local honey is produced” and “learn how the rainbow trout (a popular local dish) is raised and cooked”. For those of you who missed the last 2 years’ Slow Food Festival, you will still be able to watch the corn-milling which is done on an old grinding mill stone pulled by a donkey and taste the corn pancake sprinkled with various flavors created by adding different herbs right after being milled, or, watch an interesting noodle making class as well as tasting all kinds of local dishes. And, we will also offer local Orchard Walks and a Chestnut Harvesting Class. These events will be available to those who register for these activities. These experiences will help you to learn more about what kinds of wild herbs are available locally and how chestnuts (the main income for the local villagers) are harvested. Our registration interface will be alive from 2012/9/1, 9am to 2012/9/21, 5pm. Please stay tuned to the website (www.slowfoodsaturday.org) for more updates. Please do come and join us for what offers to be an extraordinarily fun day in the countryside of Bohai Township! Event Page & Information
