Editor-in-Chief

Jing Daily seeks a dynamic editor-in-chief ready to lead our media company through its next exciting stage of growth as we continue to provide thoughtful, and comprehensive news on the business of luxury in China.

The editor-in-chief will be responsible for ensuring that our articles, website, newsletters exhibit the quality and integrity that our loyal audience of luxury brands and agencies rely on Jing Daily for.

Speaking engagements, interviews with media outlets, and providing your own analysis of the news about the business of luxury in China will be part of the mix of your responsibilities. Chinese-language skills will be important and the position will include travel to China.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide exemplary leadership for Jing Daily and execute the strategic vision
  • Manage editorial calendar
  • Provide leadership in increasing journalistic quality and storytelling across all areas of coverage
  • Oversee recruitment of writers, editorial interns, freelancers
  • Work with freelancers, staff, interns, and partners to conceptualize, edit and produce regular editorial content
  • Conceptualize, plan, and edit research reports
  • Evaluate and edit pitches and article submissions
  • Conceptualize and edit daily brief and newsletters
  • Provide interviews to media outlets with the goal of becoming a popular source for journalists seeking expertise on China
  • Lead the planning and oversee execution of content strategies with a keen eye focused on strategic audiences. Special emphasis is placed on digital and other new platforms. Creativity and an ability to develop and execute innovative approaches are essential.
  • Develop and implement a multi-platform digital vision for mobile, social and video and strategy focused on achieving target audience specific goals and objectives

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years  of editing experience for a digital publication
  • 5+ years of experience managing editorial business operations
  • Keen understanding of the luxury industry or a relevant sector such as fashion  
  • A history of successful leadership, innovation and goal achievement
  • Strong communicator of the company’s strategic initiatives, purpose, vision, culture and plan
  • Personal charisma, comfortable with public speaking and a commitment to staff interaction
  • You’ve done more than just write – you’ve managed teams, you’ve worked with social media, analytics, and creative teams
  • A solid track record of building readership and/or subscription numbers
  • Experience with a content management system (especially WordPress)
  • Experience with mailing list programs (MailChimp)
  • A strong network of journalists, writers, and PR contacts within the luxury market a plus

Some additional key things to know:

  • This is a New York-based role
  • Extensive experience covering business in China is a must
  • We want you to start ASAP
  • This is a full-time position

Contributing Editor Reporting on the Business of Global Chinese Travel

Jing Travel is growing and needs your expertise!

Jing Travel is looking for a knowledgeable, creative, and ambitious contributing editor that will support its cutting-edge reporting on the business of global Chinese travel.

Responsibilities

  • Researching, pitching, and writing stories related to the business of global Chinese travel
  • Staying on top of new trends and developments that affect Chinese travel patterns
  • Interviewing travel industry professionals and other tourism industry stakeholders
  • Helping organize and host webinars and supporting other types of interactive reporting

Reporter 

Jing Daily is seeking a full-time, China-based business reporter to join its growing editorial team in covering the latest news and trends in China’s luxury market. Applicants should have a solid portfolio of business writing, with a preference for stories on digital marketing, e-commerce, social media, and travel as they relate to the industry.

Responsibilities

  • Writing assigned articles and pitching original articles
  • Contributing to research reports
  • Contributing to weekly and daily newsletters
  • Identifying relevant China luxury industry topics in the news from both Chinese- and English-language sources
  • Uploading stories, photos, and multimedia through WordPress

Qualifications

  • One or more years of China business writing experience
  • Understanding of the luxury industry or a relevant sector such as fashion
  • Experience in building a strong list of industry contacts
  • Skills in analyzing and interpreting data
  • Ability to read and conduct research in Chinese
  • Experience with a content management system (especially WordPress) and mailing list programs (MailChimp) a plus; basic html a plus

Jing Daily Internships

Editorial Internship

Jing Daily is seeking an editorial intern to be based out of its Beijing office. The position will report to the Associate Editor and is a great opportunity for talented students or recent graduates interested in the business side of luxury, fashion, and lifestyle in China. The intern will have the chance to pitch original story ideas and build his/her portfolio.

Qualifications

  • Excellent written English with web-based writing experience, and ability to read/conduct research in Chinese
  • An interest in luxury, business, and fashion trends in the China market
  • Social-media savvy – experience with Chinese social media such as Sina Weibo and WeChat
  • Available now with a minimum commitment of three months preferred
  • Experience with a content management system (especially WordPress) a plus; basic html a plus

Major responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Identifying relevant China luxury industry topics in the news and on major social media platforms from both Chinese- and English-language sources
  • Providing research, transcription and fact-checking assistance to editorial team
  • Writing assigned articles and pitching story ideas
  • Uploading stories, photos, and multimedia through WordPress
