China auto sales reach record 34.4M units in 2025, up 9.4% YoY

China’s vehicle sales climbed 9.4% YoY to a record 34.4 million units in 2025, driven by exports and government trade-in subsidies. Production reached 34.53 million units, up 10.4%, marking the third consecutive year both output and sales exceeded 30 million. The China Association of Automobile Manufacturers released the data Wednesday, noting the market outperformed its initial 3% growth prediction. Strong performance came from government initiatives promoting equipment renewal and consumer goods trade-ins, surging well beyond early industry estimates.
