French president arrives in China for trade talks

French President Emmanuel Macron arrived in China Wednesday for a three-day state visit centered on economic cooperation and Ukraine conflict diplomacy. The visit aims to promote balanced growth, with France seeking greater market access and increased Chinese investment. Both sides expect to sign agreements in the energy, food, and aviation sectors. The EU maintains a significant trade deficit with China, exceeding 300 billion euros ($323 billion) last year. Recent trade tensions include the EU’s probe into Chinese electric vehicles and China’s investigations into European goods. Macron’s itinerary includes meetings with Chinese leaders, Forbidden City visit, and Chengdu trip to meet students and visit a panda research center.
