Marc Jacobs sale talks collapse without deal

Negotiations between LVMH and Authentic Brands Group concerning the sale of designer label Marc Jacobs have ended without agreement. The brand remains under LVMH ownership since 1997, when founder Marc Jacobs also began his tenure as creative director of Louis Vuitton. The deal was complex due to Marc Jacobs reportedly retaining a minority stake, requiring additional negotiation over his future role and financial interests. Another challenge arose from Authentic Brands Group’s licensing-heavy business model. LVMH did not provide sufficient data for Authentic Brands Group and partners to fully evaluate the brand’s commercial prospects, and maintained a firm valuation stance throughout negotiations.
