Alibaba-owned e-commerce platform Lazada announced a partnership with South Korea’s Gmarket to open a flagship store on LazMall, its virtual shopping mall, on September 29. Consumers in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, and Vietnam will gain access to around 20 million products from Korean sellers, including beauty and skincare brands such as Sulwhasoo, d’Alba, Mediheal, Cosrx, Skinfood, and Laneige. Orders will be fulfilled through Lazada’s logistics network, while after-sales services will be jointly managed. The collaboration follows the establishment of a 50/50 joint venture last year between Alibaba International and Gmarket’s parent, Shinsegae Group, which earlier this month received conditional approval from South Korea's Fair Trade Commission.
