BYD to launch local European manufacturing by 2028

At the Munich Auto Show, BYD Executive Vice President Li Ke announced plans to begin local electric vehicle production in Europe within three years, completing localization by 2028. The move aims to better serve European demand and improve supply chain efficiency. BYD’s Hungary factory launches later this year, while Turkey opens in 2026. Three to four new PHEV models will be released in six months. The company plans to introduce premium brand Yangwang to Europe in 2027 and establish over 1,000 stores across 32 countries by year-end. BYD currently sells 13 European models, up from two years ago.
