Tesla launched the Model Y L in China Tuesday, starting at 339,000 RMB ($47,180), significantly lower than the 400,000 RMB expected price reported by local media. Chinese customers purchasing the six-seat variant will receive delivery in September. The launch intensifies competition in the six-seat SUV segment against local rivals including Nio and Li Auto. The Model Y L becomes the most expensive, longest-range, and largest model in Tesla’s SUV lineup, priced 25,500 RMB higher than the five-seat long-range version. Thanks to an 82.0 kWh ternary lithium battery pack from LG Energy Solution, the Model Y L offers 751km CLTC range, 1km more than the five-seat version’s 750km range.
