Tesla’s China EV sales drop 8.4% YoY in July
Tesla’s China-made EV sales fell 8.4% YoY in July to 67,886 units, reversing June’s modest growth as competition from local automakers intensified. Sales also declined 5.2% from the previous month, according to data from the China Passenger Car Association. Meanwhile, China’s overall EV and hybrid sales rose 25% in July to 1.18 million units, defying typical seasonal weakness. Tesla faces mounting pressure from domestic rivals like BYD, which sold 341,300 vehicles globally last month, and Xiaomi, which recently launched its YU7 SUV to challenge Tesla’s Model Y.
