BYD’s luxury brand Yangwang to enter European market

BYD has confirmed that its ultra-premium brand Yangwang will launch in Europe, more than two years after its debut in China. Positioned above BYD’s core lineup and its premium brand Denza, Yangwang targets luxury rivals such as Bentley, Porsche and Ferrari.

First introduced in 2023, Yangwang’s lineup includes the U8 — a high-performance SUV with more than 1,000 horsepower and features such as 360-degree rotation and water flotation — and the U9, an electric supercar capable of reaching 375 kph with a hydraulic suspension that enables jumping and three-wheel driving.

Vice President Stella Li told Autocar that Yangwang will enter Europe following Denza’s rollout in early 2026. The brand’s European lineup will include the U8, U9 and the upcoming U7 sedan — a 1,300-horsepower model aimed at competing with the Lotus Emeya. BYD would be the first Chinese automaker to enter Europe’s top-tier luxury segment, although pricing could be higher than in China due to EU tariffs and vehicle modifications.
