China extends visa-free policy to Gulf states

China announced yesterday that it will trial a unilateral visa-free policy for Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait, and Bahrain. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said that from June 9, 2025, to June 8, 2026, holders of ordinary passports from these four countries can enter China without a visa for up to 30 days for business, tourism, family visits, exchanges, or transit. With the United Arab Emirates and Qatar already enjoying mutual visa exemptions since 2018, China’s visa-free coverage now extends to all Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.
