Marriott International will partner with Chinese delivery platform Meituan starting today, introducing joint memberships and allowing hotel bookings through Meituan’s Marriott flagship store. Sources say other high-end hotel groups are also in talks with Meituan to connect loyalty programs, aiming to tap into the platform’s active travel and leisure consumer base. The collaboration targets increasing registrations for Marriott Bonvoy, integrating resources across accommodation, dining, and local services to appeal to younger and emerging market consumers. Marriott has ramped up its China expansion, with a record 31,000 rooms signed in Greater China in 2024. With 219 million global Bonvoy members, mainly business travelers aged 30 to 40, Marriott now eyes Meituan’s younger, high-spending members as a key growth driver.
