China records 163 million border crossings in Q1, up 15.3%
According to data released by the National Immigration Administration, China recorded 163 million border crossings in Q1 2025, a 15.3% YoY increase. The breakdown includes 80.27 million mainland Chinese residents, 65.72 million travelers from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan, and 17.44 million foreign nationals — up 15.4%, 11.2%, and 33.4% respectively from the same period last year. Additionally, 361,000 visas and other travel documents were issued to foreign nationals during the quarter.
