Amorepacific’s China sales down 26.7% YoY

The Kao Corporation of Japan and Amorepacific Group of South Korea reported recovery in overseas markets but continued challenges in China. Amorepacific’s revenue in Greater China fell 26.7% to 510 billion Korean Won ($387 million). Innisfree and Etude House saw significant declines.

Meanwhile, Amorepacific’s Americas revenue rose 83%, and its Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) region saw a 229% surge. Kao’s European sales grew 5.2%. However, sales in the Asia market (excluding Japan) dropped 3.3%, with cosmetics down over 26%. Domestic competitors, evolving e-commerce dynamics, and limitations of single-brand store models have affected Japanese and Korean brands in China.
