The National Bureau of Statistics released data on January 17 showing that total retail sales of consumer goods in December 2024 reached 4.51 trillion RMB ($625.2 billion), a 3.7% YoY increase. Excluding automobiles, the figure was 3.95 trillion RMB ($545.2 billion), up 4.2%. For the year, total retail sales of consumer goods were 48.78 trillion RMB ($6.7 trillion), a 3.5% increase. Retail sales of goods reached 3.962 trillion RMB ($544.5 billion), growing 3.9%, with sports and entertainment products up 16.7%, cosmetics rising 0.8%, and apparel and jewelry seeing declines of 0.3% and 1%, respectively.
