2025 Spring Festival: Dali, Harbin lead homestay bookings

On January 16, Tujia Homestay released its 2025 Spring Festival Homestay Travel Prediction Report. As of January 14, the volume of early homestay bookings in popular cities during the Spring Festival has increased by 20% compared to 2024. This year marks the first “Intangible Cultural Heritage Spring Festival,” with folk tourism and snow sports emerging as the main activities for homestay travelers.

Foreigners have also embraced spending the Chinese New Year in homestays, with bookings by non-Chinese passport holders up 2.3 times YoY. According to Tujia data, Dali ranks first in homestay bookings for this Spring Festival, while Harbin maintains its popularity as a top northern city. The top 10 most popular cities for Spring Festival bookings are Dali, Harbin, Beihai, Shantou, Beijing, Xishuangbanna, Guangzhou, Kunming, Lijiang, and Chengdu.
