China’s civil aviation industry reports strong recovery in 2024

On January 9, the 2025 National Civil Aviation Work Conference was held in Beijing. In 2024, the industry reduced its losses by 20.6 billion RMB ($2.85 billion) year-on-year, overall turning a profit. The passenger load factor reached 72%, an increase of 4.3% compared to last year, surpassing 2019 levels by 0.4%. This year, the civil aviation sector will accelerate the recovery of international flights, aiming to restore international flight numbers to over 90% of pre-pandemic levels. Additionally, it will regulate air transport pricing during peak periods and special circumstances, strengthen price and fee supervision, and maintain market order in air transport pricing.
