Foreign smartphone shipments to China plunge 47.4%

Shipments of foreign-branded smartphones to China, including Apple’s iPhone, declined by 47.4% in November compared to the previous year, marking the fourth consecutive month of decline. According to data from the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, shipments fell to 3.04 million units from 5.77 million a year earlier. This follows a 44.25% drop in October and highlights the ongoing downturn in the world’s largest smartphone market, exacerbated by economic slowdown and competition from local brands like Huawei. Apple, facing declining market share and increased competition, launched a rare four-day promotion in China to cut prices on its flagship models by up to 500 RMB ($68.50).
