Alibaba launched its operations in Morocco on December 23, marking the e-commerce giant’s first venture into the African market. The move is part of Alibaba’s strategy to help Moroccan businesses broaden their export reach, particularly to North America. As part of its expansion, Alibaba has partnered with local firm Clementia to support its operations in Morocco. Clementia’s CEO, Reda Chraibi, highlighted that the collaboration would allow Moroccan businesses to open digital storefronts on Alibaba’s platform, facilitating easier connections with global buyers and enhancing export opportunities. Morocco, located along the Mediterranean coast of North Africa, has long been a critical trade hub with its significant container ports.
