Japan plans to ease visa rules for Chinese tourists

The Japanese government plans to relax its visa requirements for Chinese visitors to boost exchanges between the two countries. Proposals include simplifying documentation and expanding eligibility for multiple short-term visas. This move follows China’s recent reinstatement of a short-term visa waiver for Japanese visitors. Japanese Foreign Minister Takeshi Iwaya may announce the changes during a visit to China later this month. Currently, Chinese nationals applying for tourist visas must present a gold-status credit card, income certificates, and proof of residence.
