China’s cruise sector surges with 50 new companies
Cruise tourism is seeing a surge in popularity in China, with accelerated development and the industry entering a phase of rapid recovery, according to the International Cruise Economy Research Center. Long-distance cruises are stabilizing, while short-distance cruises are blooming in multiple locations. According to Qichacha, there are currently 744 cruise-related companies in China, with 50 new companies registered in 2023, up 56.25% YoY. Most of these companies are in leasing and business services, with over 70% established for more than five years. More than half of them have a registered capital exceeding 10 million RMB ($1.37 million).
