JD.com has announced an additional investment of 1 billion RMB ($141 million) to expand its apparel category, aiming to establish JD Fashion as a hub for trendy and sought-after products. Since the beginning of this year, JD Fashion has seen a YoY increase of over five times in the number of new products across hundreds of categories including men’s and women’s clothing, footwear, and athletic wear. The number of top-tier domestic and international footwear and apparel brands on JD has increased by over 60% YoY, while the number of third-party merchants has surged by more than 200%. To date, JD Fashion has formed strategic collaborations with globally recognized fashion groups across the board like Inditex and Gucci.
