Foreign entries to China surge 129.9% YoY, boosting consumption

From January to July 2024, foreign entries at Chinese ports surpassed 17.25 million, marking a 129.9% increase from the same period in 2023, according to the National Immigration Administration. This influx has led to over 100 billion RMB ($14 billion) in boosted consumption, with an average daily expenditure of nearly 3,500 RMB ($490) per visitor. The rise in foreign visitors is attributed to recent policies designed to ease entry into China.
