Maldives tourism booms as China leads source markets
The Maldives recorded over 100,000 tourist arrivals in August, reflecting a strong growth trajectory for the nation’s tourism sector. As of August 17, China leads the source markets for tourists, contributing 14.3% of total arrivals with 184,632 visitors. Russia follows with 10.8% market share and 139,308 arrivals, while the UK ranks third with 8.7% and 112,656 arrivals. Italy, Germany, and India are also significant sources, with market shares of 7.4%, 7.1%, and 6%, respectively. Spain has recently entered the top 10 source markets, contributing 2% with 25,369 arrivals, replacing Poland.
